What Makes a Good Resin Cast for Model Railroading

Resin is unforgiving. A part can measure right and still look wrong if the surface is chalky, the edges are soft, or flash hides detail you paid for.

Surface finish

Good castings hold a thin wash and dry-brush without turning to mush. You should see crisp panel lines, bolt heads, and wood grain where the master had them — not a melted suggestion.

Flash and cleanup time

Every resin part needs a little knife work. The question is how much. 3G targets minimal flash so you spend minutes, not hours, before paint.

Scale and proportion

HO and N are not just smaller versions of the same master. Proportions that read on an HO loading dock can disappear on an N shelf. We print and review per scale, not shrink a single file.
